If you have recently been added to a folder on the W:\ drive or had a security permission applied to your account, those changes can take up to 24 hours to sync. To expedite the process, or if it's been 24+ hours and the changes have not yet been applied, you can manually update the Group Policy by following the steps below.
- Save all of your work and close any programs you have open
- In the search bar on your taskbar, type cmd and select the Command Prompt app
- Type gpupdate /force and press Enter
- Wait for a minute for all of the text to finish loading
- When it says OK to log off? (Y/N) , type Y and press Enter
- Your computer may restart, or it may just log you out. Once you're back at the Windows sign-in screen, try logging in and accessing the folder or area of permission you were granted.
